Welcome to a Charming Beer Restaurant in the Heart of Pikisaari, Oulu

Just 500 meters from Oulu Market Square, Mallassauna invites you to relax and enjoy its cozy atmosphere.
Our downstairs bar features 14 taps, offering a wide selection of Hailuodon Brewery’s organic beers and unique specialties from Oulu’s local breweries. We also serve wines and non-alcoholic beverages.

Sun–Thu 2 pm–10 pm, Fri–Sat 2 pm–12 am, kitchen open until 9:30 pm

The upstairs dining room hosts events and is available for private bookings.

You can also purchase beer to-go from our chilled cabinets!

The upstairs dining room, accommodating up to 50 guests, is perfectly suited for corporate and private events. The space features its own bar counter and sound system.

We also offer guided beer tastings and presentations on Hailuodon Brewery for a unique experience.

Enjoy the Sauna Experience at Mallassauna!

In the courtyard of Mallassauna, you can sink your toes into the soft sand brought from Hailuoto and enjoy a steam in unique saunas. Bring your own swimsuit and towel.

Saunas are heated Tue–Thu 16:00–21:00, Fri 16:00–22:00, and Sat 14:00–22:00

History of the Mallassauna

The name “Mallassauna” refers to a malting plant. Pikisaari once had a brewery and a distillery, for which barley was malted. The building itself is mentioned in the 1884 plan of the Pikisaari distillery and was built in 1869. The malting plant was later converted into a dyeing plant for a wool factory. After 1963, the premises were first transferred to the property consortium Hyry, then to the City of Oulu in 1978. Before 1995, when the vocational school began operating, the premises housed a buying and selling business. The premises were renovated in 1997.
